“Prescription Medication Benefits” & “Supporting Collaborations between Navigators, Connectors and Assisters, and Local Disability and Affinity Organizations”
The American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD) is pleased to announce the publication of two new fact sheets for the National Disability Navigator Resource Collaborative (NDNRC). “Prescription Medication Benefits” is designed to help navigators answer specific questions that people with disabilities might ask about prescription medication benefits when they are considering buying health insurance through the Marketplace. “Supporting Collaborations between Navigators, Connectors and Assisters, and Local Disability and Affinity Organizations” is intended to help Navigators, connectors and assisters understand why it is important to identify and build relationships with local disability and affinity organizations. Both of these should be useful follow-ups to the first four fact sheets which addressed a health plans’ summary of benefits and coverage, evidence of coverage documents, insurance customer service and rehabilitation and habilitation therapies and devices. The entire list of fact sheets (along with upcoming fact sheets) is also available by clicking here.
The NDNRC is comprised of seven national disability organizations which represent unique cross-disability experiences. Along with AAHD, the other six partner organizations are the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD); the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF); the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI); the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS); The Arc and United Spinal Association. Special thanks to DREDF for their role in authorship of the fact sheets. The NDNRC is funded through a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
