“Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Parity,” “Medically Frail Status as an Exemption to Receiving Medicaid Alternative Benefit Plan with Essential Health Benefits,” “Streamlined Marketplace Application Process” & “Medical Supplies Benefits”
The American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD) is pleased to announce the publication of four new fact sheets for the National Disability Navigator Resource Collaborative (NDNRC).
- “Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Parity” is written to help Navigators answer specific questions that people with disabilities might ask about mental health and substance use disorder parity (MH/SUD) through the Health Insurance Marketplace. The fact sheet can be found here.
- “Medically Frail Status as an Exemption to Receiving Medicaid Alternative Benefit Plan with Essential Health Benefits” is designed to help Navigators answer specific questions people with disabilities may call you with if their exchange application indicates that they potentially qualify for enrollment in their state’s Medicaid expansion. This fact sheet can be found here.
- “Streamlined Marketplace Application Process” is intended to help Navigators answer specific questions that people with disabilities might ask about using the Streamlined Marketplace Application process to apply for health insurance coverage. This fact sheet can be found here.
- “Medical Supplies Benefits” is meant to help Navigators answer specific questions that people with disabilities might ask about medical supplies benefits when they are considering buying health insurance through the Marketplace. This fact sheet can be found here.
All four of these should be useful follow-ups to the series of fact sheets which have addressed issues such as a health plans’ summary of benefits and coverage, rehabilitation and habilitation therapies and devices, and prescription medication benefits. The entire list of fact sheets (along with upcoming fact sheets) is also available on our Fact Sheets page.
The NDNRC is comprised of seven national disability organizations which represent unique cross-disability experiences. Along with AAHD, the other six partner organizations are the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD); the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF); the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI); the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS); The Arc and United Spinal Association. Special thanks to DREDF for their role in authorship of the fact sheets. The NDNRC is funded through a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
