A new issue brief from the Kaiser Family Foundation provides an even clearer picture of Americans who remain uninsured. According to Kaiser, nearly half of the uninsured in this country would be eligible for financial assistance either through premium tax credits or Medicaid if they would only apply (15.7 million out of 32.3 million). This does not even count the estimated 3 million who fall in the coverage gap where their state has not expanded Medicaid. This new study once again underscores the importance of consumer outreach and education as open enrollment year 3 approaches.
