A new issue brief from the Kaiser Family Foundation looks at the relationship between Medicaid and work. The issue brief entitled “Understanding the Intersection of Medicaid and Work: What Does the Data Say?” details how many people who are Medicaid beneficiaries are already working, as 63% of Medicaid beneficiaries are working. The report also covers the types of functional limitations on the job that people with disabilities face who are on Medicaid, such as manual dexterity, weight restrictions on lifting and the ability to stand for two hours at a time. The brief also breaks down why people who are not working and on Medicaid are out of work and breaks it down by health status (see graphic below).
