With the completion of Open Enrollment Year 8 (OE8) for the federally facilitated marketplace, CMS has issued its final enrollment snapshot for the 2021 plan year. This snapshot indicates that over 8.2 million people receive coverage through the federally facilitated marketplaces. This is approximately the same amount that received coverage for 2020, although the 2020 numbers included the states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania which now operate their own SBM. In comparing the 2021 numbers to the 2020 numbers for only the states which were in the federally facilitated marketplace for both years, it actually represents an increase of approximately 7% in enrollment.
