Yesterday, CMS issued two reports which demonstrate the effectiveness of the COVID Special Enrollment Period (SEP) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) following the enhancements provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
The 2021 Marketplace Special Enrollment Period Report showed that since the end of May over 1.2 million people have enrolled in coverage through healthcare.gov since the COVID SEP started in February. The other press release from CMS highlighted the fact that over 40% of new consumers enrolled in coverage through the ACA were able to find a plan that cost less than $10 a month after utilizing the enhanced premium tax credits that are now available as a result of ARPA.
