ACA TURNS 13!!
Yesterday was the anniversary for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) which has now been the law of the land for 13 years. To celebrate the milestone, CMS put out a press release which highlights the gains in coverage which have happened over the last couple of years, including the fact that there are over 16 million people who receive coverage as a result of the ACA.
The Georgetown Center for Children and Families released a blog post yesterday which celebrates the achievements that have been reached in reducing the uninsured rate as a result of the ACA. Additionally, the Georgetown University Center on Health Insurance Reforms released a blog post celebrating the accomplishments of the ACA
Community Catalyst posted in their blog about the things which can still be done to help improve coverage by making sure the essential health benefits covered by insurance plans are adequately meeting the needs of the insured.
As part of our partnership with Community Catalyst, we have a project which highlights opportunities for people with disabilities to get access to health coverage through Medicaid or the ACA marketplace. As part of this project, they have graphics like the one below which highlight the fact that the ACA is still law. These are available in the Community Catalyst Outreach Hub.
Unwinding the Medicaid continuous coverage requirement is just over a week away as some states could terminate people’s Medicaid eligibility as early as April 1. Young Invincibles has created a toolkit for the Medicaid unwinding.
The Georgetown Center for Children and Families has a weekly blog post which focuses on the Medicaid unwinding, and this week’s blog post discusses how the various states renewal reports could provide clues on how the state will be conducting its unwinding.
In one of their blog posts this week, the Georgetown University Center on Health Insurance Reforms examined what states are doing to help protect people who will lose their Medicaid coverage and how the states plan to assist in transitioning them to alternative coverage.
To emphasize the importance of the Medicaid unwinding, the Kaiser Family Foundation released a new report which shows the growth in Medicaid and CHIP throughout the pandemic
Last week, the Kaiser Family Foundation hosted a webinar which addressed how different states are approaching the Medicaid unwinding.
While some states have started the process of redeterminations and could terminate Medicaid enrollment for some as of April 1, many states have very different timelines. If you’re wondering what the timeline looks like for your state, CMS released a list of key dates by state regarding their redeterminations (see our news item).
