NDNRC YEAR 2 FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT & RESOURCES ON MENTAL HEALTH AND PLAN PARITY

As we announced last week, the National Disability Navigator Resource Collaborative (NDNRC) has received funding for a second year through another one year grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. If you missed our announcement and want to read about our community outreach plans in year two and the identification of four new partner organizations, click here.

Are you looking for resources on mental health and plan parity? We’ve recently added some new resources on this important issue. First is a link to a toolkit from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention designed to assist consumers in reviewing health plans for parity and mental health coverage. That toolkit can be found here. We also posted a link to the American Psychological Association’s page on resources on the mental health parity law. That link can be accessed here. Finally, if you want more background on mental health parity in large employer and group plans, be sure to check out the report that was previously done by the HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) which addresses the consistency of mental health parity in those plans. That report can be accessed here. All of these can also be found on our Resources & Links page under “Enrollment Resources – Mental Health and Behavioral Health.”

Last week’s CMS assisters focused on the redesigned Healthcare.gov website, including how re-enrollment will be handled. If you missed it since it was held Thursday instead of Friday, you can access a link to the recording in our news item by clicking here.

As open enrollment approaches, are you looking for ideas on how to increase outreach in harder to reach populations? Be sure to check out a report from Action for Health Justice entitled “Improving the Road to ACA Coverage: Lessons Learned on Outreach, Education, and Enrollment for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Communities.” The report can be accessed here and it can also be found on our Resources & Links page under “Enrollment Resources – Overview.”
