TIME FOR A HEALTH INSURANCE CHECK UP – BROCHURE AVAILABLE

If you are looking for something to use to advise consumers that they need to review their plan and make any decisions regarding reenrollment, be sure to check out our new brochure “Time for a Health Insurance Check Up.” Especially geared towards people with disabilities, this brochure highlights the considerations a consumer needs to think about as year two of open enrollment begins. To download a copy of this brochure, click here. Special thanks for preparing this brochure goes to the Health Task Force of the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities which includes the American Association on Health and Disability.

Did you complete the navigator training but wish you could go back to review the specifics on helping people with disabilities or other vulnerable populations? The NDNRC has just posted the CMS Training Modules on Working with Consumers with Disabilities and Serving Vulnerable and Underserved Populations. To view these modules and other materials like our brochure, check out the materials page of the website by clicking here.

Are you wondering what other navigator programs have learned from year one and recommendations they are following for year two? Seedco has just issued a report on its navigator program. Seedco runs navigator programs in four states: Georgia, Maryland, New York and Tennessee. The report looks at the factors that led to successful enrollment in their navigator programs and makes recommendations based on these consumer experiences. To view our news item on this report which includes a link to Seedco’s website and a copy of the report, click here.

Another report that came out this week was one from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) on rehabilitation and habilitation benefits. The report entitled “Analysis of Rehabilitation and Habilitation Benefits in Qualified Health Plans” addresses both the availability of these benefits as well as the adequacy of information on rehabilitation and habilitation benefits which is available to the consumer when choosing between plans. The report can be accessed by clicking here. It can also be found on our Resources & Links page under “Enrollment Resources – Disability Specific.”

Are you looking for resources to help you get ready for year two of open enrollment? Enroll America is hosting a series of webinars this month designed to provide strategies for year two. To view our news item on their webinars which includes a list of prior and upcoming sessions as well as a link to Enroll America where you can register, click here.
