TIS THE SEASON FOR SEPs

Now that open enrollment has ended, it is the season for Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs) and the NDNRC has what you need to keep you fully informed. Last Friday after our weekly update was prepared, CMS announced that there would be a new SEP for those who will pay the “shared responsibility payment” (tax penalty) this tax season for not having coverage in 2014 and still do not have coverage for 2015. To read our news item which includes a link to the full CMS announcement with the specific requirements that a consumer must meet for the SEP, click here.

Once again, this only applies to consumers in the federally facilitated marketplaces. To find out what the state-based marketplaces are doing on tax penalty SEPs, read our blog post by clicking here.

Speaking of SEPs and the state-based marketplaces, be sure to check out the new report from the Urban Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation which looks at five state-based marketplaces and how they handled SEPs in the first year of open enrollment. To read our news item on this report which includes a link to download a copy of the report, click here. The report is also available on our Resources & Links page under “Enrollment Resources – Overview.”

Are you wondering how Medicaid enrollment is doing in your state? Earlier this week, CMS released the Medicaid enrollment data for December 2014. To read our news item on the enrollment data which includes a link to download a copy of the report, click here. The report is also available on our Resources & Links page under “Enrollment Statistics.”

Speaking of how enrollment went for year two, be sure to check out the report from Enroll America which surveys the experience of the last year and outlines lessons learned. To read our news item on the Enroll America report which includes a link to download a copy of the report, click here. The report is also available on our Resources & Links page under “Affordable Care Act (ACA) Enrollment Resources.”

Weekly updates are archived on the NDNRC site. All Weekly Updates since October 3, 2014 can be accessed by clicking here.

Are you looking for local partners to help with outreach to the disability community? The NDNRC has funded eleven Community Outreach Collaboratives (COCs) for the second year of enrollment. The COCs will increase collaborations in the community, dissemination and outreach efforts and enrollment of people with disabilities in the ACA. To find a COC, click here.
