The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has released a report on mental health and substance use parity entitled “A Long Road Ahead: Achieving True Parity in Mental Health and Substance Use Care.” The report gives the findings of a survey of both people and families living with mental illness as well as an analysis of health plans to see how parity is being addressed in the light of the requirements of both the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) of 2008 and the Affordable Care Act of 2010. Based on these findings, NAMI makes five policy recommendations to help bring parity to qualified health plans. To download a copy of this report, click here.
