TAX FILING DEADLINE APPROACHES
This Wednesday is April 15 which means millions of Americans will be finalizing their taxes and many may be learning for the first time about the “shared financial responsibility payment” also known as the tax penalty. As we previously reported, CMS is providing a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) for those who have to pay the penalty and are just learning about it for the first time. Many of the state-based marketplaces (SBMs) are following suit and we previously wrote a blog outlining what the SBMs are doing. Click here to read that blog. While taxes must be filed by April 15, most of the tax penalty SEPs are allowing consumers until April 30 to enroll, so be sure you have the resources you need including our NDNRC Disability Guide and Fact Sheets.
Have you heard the good news? CMS is planning to fund navigators for three years starting in the third year of open enrollment. To read our news item on the details, click here.
In case you missed it last week, we’ve added direct links to the different sections of our Resources & Links to take you automatically to the appropriate section of the page. We hope these direct links will make it easier for you to navigate our website and locate resources. These links can be found towards the bottom of the homepage to the left of our state resource map. They are also included here:

Are you looking for local partners to help with outreach to the disability community? The NDNRC has funded eleven Community Outreach Collaboratives (COCs) for the second year of enrollment. The COCs will increase collaborations in the community, dissemination and outreach efforts and enrollment of people with disabilities in the ACA. To find a COC, click here.
Weekly updates are now archived on the NDNRC site. All Weekly Updates since October 3, 2014 can be accessed by clicking here.
