The Commonwealth Fund has released a report on what states are doing to regulate some of the narrow provider networks that are being offered on the healthcare marketplace. The report is entitled “Implementing the Affordable Care Act: State Regulation of Marketplace Plan Provider Networks.” Some states have left the terms more vague indicating that carriers must have an “adequate network” but many states have begun to quantify what that means. This includes regulations limiting the time and distance of travel to see a provider and the length of time a consumer must wait to see a provider. This report breaks down what states are doing in this critical area. To download a copy of the report, click here.
