NEW GUIDANCE FROM CMS ON RE-ENROLLMENT

Please note that for the summer the NDNRC Update is being released on a biweekly basis.

If you’re wondering what will happen with re-enrollment to the consumers who are enrolled in plans offered by one of the health insurance carriers leaving the marketplace, CMS has released new guidance to help. To read more or to download the CMS guidance, check out our news item here.

This past Wednesday, CMS conducted a webinar intended to introduce the training required for certification of assisters, including all CMS funded navigators. If you missed it, it is available on recording. To register and watch the recording of the webinar, click here. Additional materials from CMS on the required training are available on the CMS website here.

A new issue brief from the Kaiser Family Foundation examines the trends in state Medicaid programs over the last 15 years. The brief is a compilation of years of surveys conducted by the foundation of state Medicaid programs. To read more about the brief including the key findings from the survey data or to download a copy, check out our news item here.

A study released last month by the Commonwealth Fund looks at the financial cost to consumers in states who have not expanded Medicaid but would be eligible for Medicaid had their state expanded. To read more or to download a copy of the report, check out our news item here.

Do you provide voter registration during the enrollment process? Families USA is hosting a webinar this coming Thursday to provide some guidance on how to do this effectively. The webinar, “Voter Registration: A How-To for Assisters,” will be Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 3:00 PM ET. To register, click here.

The University of Washington – Healthy Aging Rehabilitation Research Training Center (RRTC) has released a plain language research summary on “The Benefits of Happiness and Finding Your Sense of Purpose.” Read more here.

CMS has announced an initiative to target young adults during this fall’s open enrollment. To read the CMS fact sheet about this initiative which includes strategies for outreach to this population, click here.

Last week, CMS released the Eligibility Determinations and Enrollment Report from April 2016. To read the report from CMS, click here. CMS also reported the effectuated enrollment numbers for the Marketplace as of March 31, 2016. To read the CMS fact sheet on these enrollment numbers, click here. Both of these reports can also be found on our Resources & Links page under “Enrollment Statistics.” If you are looking for prior Medicaid enrollment reports from CMS, we added a new page to the website that has all the Medicaid enrollment reports archived from January 2014 when Medicaid expansion began. Those reports are archived here.

Are you looking for local partners to help with outreach to the disability community? The NDNRC is funding eighteen Community Outreach Collaboratives (COCs) for the third year of our project. This includes the eleven that were funded last year, plus seven new locations in six new states. The COCs increase collaborations in the community, dissemination and outreach efforts and enrollment of people with disabilities in the ACA. To find a COC, click here.
