NDNRC TO PRESENT ON UNITED SPINAL WEBINAR
The NDNRC will be presenting on a webinar for the United Spinal Association on the benefits the Affordable Care Act has for people with disabilities. The webinar entitled “Helping People with Disabilities Get the Healthcare Coverage They Need” will be held on Wednesday, January 18 at 3:00 PM ET. The Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) recently released a report that addresses the number of individuals who have preexisting conditions and have experienced periods without health insurance coverage. The report then examines how their situation has changed as a result of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). To read more or to download a copy of the report, check out our news item here.
Do you do Medicaid enrollment? A new report from the Kaiser Family Foundation examines the Medicaid and CHIP eligibility, enrollment and renewal policies for all 50 states. Kaiser also has a new interactive map that provides the number of individuals enrolled in coverage through the ACA by Congressional district. To access this map, click here.
Health Affairs has two interesting ACA blog posts of note this week. The first looks at the latest enrollment numbers and the repeal efforts. That post is available here. If you missed it, last week we highlighted an article in the American Journal of Public Health which examines the effect that Medicaid expansion has had on workforce participation for people with disabilities. The article demonstrates that the workforce participation rate for people with disabilities is significantly higher in states where Medicaid has been expanded v. states where it has not been expanded.
