Kaiser Brief Examines BCRA Amendment Which Would Affect EHBs

July 12, 2017 by NDNRC

A new issue brief from the Kaiser Family Foundation examines an amendment to the Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017 (BCRA) proposed by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). In short, this amendment would allow insurance companies to sell plans on the marketplace which would not comply with the Essential Health Benefit (EHBs) regulations found in the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The brief is entitled “Uneven Playing Field: Applying Different Rules to Competing Health Plans.”

To read more about the importance of EHBs for people with disabilities, check out our eight principles we have spelled out in our statement entitled “Preserve the Protections Provided by the Affordable Care Act” or our blog post on the BCRA entitled “What the Senate’s BCRA Would Mean for People with Disabilities.”
