Tis the Season for SEPs

December 20, 2017 by NDNRC

Open enrollment is over, but Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs) may still be available to some consumers. Individuals who live in states which were affected by the hurricanes may be eligible for a SEP which extends enrollment until December 31. This includes all the counties in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina and select counties in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. It also includes the territories of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

SEPs are also available to any individual who had coverage in 2017 but is unable to renew that coverage for 2018 due to the plan being discontinued. You can read more about all of these SEPs in a fact sheet published by the Kaiser Family Foundation.
