A new issue brief from the Kaiser Family Foundation takes a look at recent efforts by the Trump administration and some states to allow insurance companies to design plans which would not comply with the standards set out in the Affordable Care Act. The brief entitled “Proposals for Insurance Options That Don’t Comply with ACA Rules: Trade-offs In Cost and Regulation” looks at four different types of regulatory actions being taken and/or considered: short-term duration plans, association health plans, state-based health plans and farm bureau health plans.
