Brief Examines What Nationwide Medicaid Work Requirement Would Look Like

A new issue brief from the Kaiser Family Foundation examines the potential effects of a nationwide work requirement for Medicaid. Kaiser estimates in their brief “Implications of a Medicaid Work Requirement: National Estimates of Potential Coverage Losses” that between 1.4 to 4 million people could lose coverage due to a nationwide work requirement. However, the vast majority of those losing coverage would be working but their eligibility would be terminated due to not fulfilling the reporting requirements or other bureaucratic issues.
