NEW STATE FACT SHEETS ON MEDICAID AVAILABLE
Throughout the summer, we will be publishing the NDNRC Update on a biweekly basis.
The Georgetown University Center for Children and Families recently released a series of fact sheets which look at the effect that Medicaid has on the health of children in each individual state. A link for the national fact sheet can be found in our news item and links to each of the state fact sheets can be found on the individual state pages on the NDNRC website which can be found through our state resource guide map.
We previously reported on the Medicaid expansion efforts in Utah. Recently, the state legislature has passed legislation that would allow for a much different type of Medicaid expansion than what has been done in any other state. The newest proposal would add a per capita cap to the funding for the program which could potentially limit the number of people who would be covered by the expansion. To learn more about the Utah proposal, check out the blog post from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP). In addition, Families USA has put out a statement on the proposed waiver.
A new fact sheet from CBPP looks at some new legislation which would increase the number of people insured through the ACA marketplace by simplifying enrollment.
A recent blog post from the Georgetown University Center on Health Insurance Reforms (CHIR) looks at the problem of underinsurance which could result when people purchase short-term, limited duration health plans.
The CHIR also published an article on the Commonwealth Fund which looks at what states are considering should the ACA’s consumer protections get struck down in the Texas v. Azar case. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals recently announced that arguments in the Texas v. Azar case will be conducted the week of July 8.
If you missed it, CMS released its Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the seventh open enrollment period (OE7). The full CMS announcement can be found in our news item, along with links to the CMS Overview on Applying and CMS’s FAQ sheet. Applications are due July 22nd.

The 2019 NH Disability & Public Health Infographic Report from the New Hampshire Disability & Public Health Project (NHDPH) shares important information about social determinants of health and health indicators among NH adults with disabilities.
Earlier this year, we released a Call to Action to the disability community to learn about the All of Us Research Program and consider participation. If you want to learn more about our project with the NIH’s All of Us Research Project, check out the Frequently Asked Questions document about the program.
Are you looking for local partners to help with outreach to the disability community? The NDNRC has Community Outreach Collaboratives (COCs) which work to increase collaborations in the community, dissemination and outreach efforts and enrollment of people with disabilities in the ACA marketplace. You can find a COC, on the COC page of our website.
Archives of our weekly updates are available on the NDNRC website.
