NEW MEDCAID REPORTS AVAILABLE
Throughout the summer, we will be publishing the NDNRC Update on a biweekly basis.
A new report from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) looks at the drop in Medicaid enrollment and why it can’t be explained by a change in unemployment. To learn more or for a link to the report, check out our news item. We’ve also added this resource to our prior blog post which highlights news stories and resources on Medicaid work requirements.
Another Medicaid report came out recently that looks at the effect of Medicaid expansion and mortality rates. The report from the National Bureau of Economic Research indicates that states that expanded Medicaid have seen continued drops in mortality rates in every year of the expansion. To learn more or for a link to the report, check out our news item.
Last week, we highlighted the Texas v. US court case which challenges the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) since the individual mandate penalty was eliminated (you can learn more about it in our news item). The Urban Institute has a state-by-state break-down in an interactive map which shows what would happen to the uninsured rate in each state if the ACA was deemed unconstitutional by the courts.
A new blog post from the Georgetown University Center on Health Insurance Reforms (CHIR) also examines some new resources which highlight the ACA’s importance to people with pre-existing conditions.
Join the NASUAD Disability Business Acumen Center on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 12:30-1:30 PM ET as Brian O’Reilly, CPA & Partner and Koy Dever, Principal with BKD CPA & Advisors present a webinar entitled “Growth and Development: Capitalize on New Business Opportunities” where they will discuss how to assess your organizations financial position to move into new contract arrangements and what you specifically need to focus on to work with managed care organizations .
Earlier this year, we released a Call to Action to the disability community to learn about the All of Us Research Program and consider participation. If you want to learn more about our project with the NIH’s All of Us Research Project, check out the Frequently Asked Questions document about the program.
Are you looking for local partners to help with outreach to the disability community? The NDNRC has Community Outreach Collaboratives (COCs) which work to increase collaborations in the community, dissemination and outreach efforts and enrollment of people with disabilities in the ACA marketplace. You can find a COC, on the COC page of our website.
Archives of our weekly updates are available on the NDNRC website.
