In our news item last week, we highlighted the Biden administration’s announcement that it would be opening up the health insurance marketplace for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) due to the COVID pandemic. Of course, this announcement only affects people who live in states that are on the federally facilitated marketplace (healthcare.gov). Many State Based Marketplaces (SBMs) have also announced that they will be opening SEPs as well. SBMs who have announced COVID SEPs are as follows:
- California: February 1 – May 15, 2021
- Colorado: February 8 – May 15, 2021
- Connecticut: February 15 – April 15, 2021
- DC: February 1 – March 31, 2021*
- Idaho: March 1 – March 31, 2021
- Maryland: January 1 – May 15, 2021
- Massachusetts: January 24 – May 23, 2021*
- Minnesota: February 16 – May 17, 2021
- Nevada: February 15 – May 15, 2021
- New Jersey: February 1 – May 15, 2021
- New York: February 1 – May 15, 2021*
- Pennsylvania: February 15 – May 15, 2021
- Rhode Island: February 1 – May 15, 2021
- Vermont: February 16 – May 14, 2021
- Washington: February 15 – May 15, 2021
* For DC, MA & NY, the states just extended the original open enrollment period for the dates shown.
