GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR INSURANCE
Earlier this spring, we conducted a series of Facebook live events which focused on getting the most out of your health insurance. We now have quote cards which highlight some of the important messages which came up in these conversations. The quote card below comes from our first Facebook live interview with Chase which addressed getting the most out of your coverage on rehabilitation and habilitation.
All of these Facebook live events have been archived on both our Facebook page and YouTube channel. We are also excited that this coming Wednesday, May 11 at 3:00 PM ET we will be hosting another Facebook live event on getting the most out of your coverage as it relates to prescription drugs.
As part of our partnership with Community Catalyst, we have a project which highlights opportunities for people with disabilities to get access to health coverage through Medicaid or the ACA marketplace. As part of this project, we have resources you need to help which highlights the benefits of coverage and getting the most out of your insurance like the image below. These graphics are available in the Community Catalyst Outreach Hub.
Recently, our partners at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) conducted a webinar on doing appeals through the ACA marketplace. This webinar has now been archived. Next week, CBPP will be conducting a webinar on Special Enrollment Periods.
In case you missed it, April was Medicaid Awareness Month. As part of Medicaid Awareness Month, we updated our Medicaid Social Media Toolkit. The toolkit provides sample social media posts as well as graphics and relevant hashtags which can be combined to promote the importance of the Medicaid program and how important it is for people with disabilities. You can read more about it in our news item.
Last week, we highlighted the fact that CMS released the final rule for the 2023 Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameters (NBPP). The NBPP is the regulatory framework which CMS uses to operate the federally facilitated marketplace (healthcare.gov). For links to the proposed rules, CMS press release and fact sheet, check out our news item.
If you want to read more about the NBPP, Health Affairs did a series of blog posts addressing what is in the final rules. Links to these blogs can are as follows:
- Part 1: Essential Health Benefits and Other Market Reforms
- Part 2: Standard Plans and Other Exchange Provisions
- Part 3: Risk Adjustment Program
Previously, we reported on the fact that the Biden Administration released a proposed rule which would address the so-called “family glitch”. The “family glitch” issue arises when one family member has an offer of insurance through their employer which prevents the remaining family members to be eligible for premium tax credits under the ACA. The Georgetown University Center on Health Insurance Reforms (CHIR) recently released a blog post examining this new rule.
Another recent blog post from CHIR looks at what the ACA marketplaces could do to reduce the loss of coverage when the COVID public health emergency ends. To read more about the recent extension of the COVID public health emergency, check out our news item.
Archives of our weekly updates are available on the NDNRC website.
