After this week and throughout the summer, we will be publishing the NDNRC Update on a biweekly basis.
The University of Kansas is once again conducting its National Survey on Health and Disability. To learn more about this survey, check out our news item or the graphic below.
Last week, we featured six videos which highlight our Get the Most Out of Your Coverage (GMOYC) for people with disabilities. We’ve now included a write up of these interviews on both our AAHD website and our NDNRC website. These interviews shed light on the positive impact that access to health insurance has, as well as how to best use coverage. You can check out these full interviews on both our Facebook page and YouTube channel. Our topics were rehabilitation/habilitation, mental health, medical devices, access to specialists, and prescription drugs. You can view these videos at the links below:
- Rehabilitation/Habilitation – Chase Bearden (March 9)
- Mental Health – Andrea Ellis (March 16)
- Medical Devices Part 1 – Karl Cooper (March 23)
- Access to Specialists – Karen Kushnyr (March 30)
- Medical Devices Part 2 – Renee Lopez (April 6)
- Prescription Drugs – April Flowers (May 11)
In addition to the video recaps, we also have quote cards which highlight some of the important messages which came up in these conversations. The quote card below comes from our interview with April which addressed getting the most out of your coverage for prescription drugs.
As part of our partnership with Community Catalyst, we have a project which highlights opportunities for people with disabilities to get access to health coverage through Medicaid or the ACA marketplace. As part of this project, we have resources like the image below which highlight the availability of special enrollment periods if you’ve had a change in income. These graphics are available in the Community Catalyst Outreach Hub.
The Georgetown University Center on Health Insurance Reforms (CHIR) has a new blog post which highlights some of the changes in the 2023 Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameters (NBPP) as it relates to network adequacy.
At the end of last week, HHS announced that they were going to be extending the time in which states can use funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to expand Home and Community-Based Services. You can read more about this in the CMS press release.
Archives of our weekly updates are available on the NDNRC website.
