NEW YOUTUBE VIDEO SERIES
Last year, the NDNRC released a series of videos entitled “Health Insurance Jeopardy” (the summary blog of that series can be found here). We are proud to announce that we are releasing a new series entitled “Health Insurance Jeopardy Round 2 – Double Jeopardy.” This new video series will be released over the next week and is based on our population specific fact sheets. The videos will be posted on our YouTube channel which can be accessed here and individual links to each video can be found on our “Webinars/Presentations” page here. To read more about what will be covered in this new series or to watch the first video on intellectual disabilities, check out our new story by clicking here.
In case you missed it last week, the NDNRC presented on a webinar entitled “The Affordable Care Act and Persons with Disabilities: An Introduction and Overview Webinar.” That webinar has been archived, so to access the recording or slides, check out our news item by clicking here. The slides and recording links are also available on our “Webinars/Presentations” page.
Previously, we have written about the ACA non-discrimination provisions and the new regulations put out by HHS on those provisions. You can read our blog about those rules here and a summary from the National Health Law Program (NHeLP) here. The Georgetown University Center on Health Insurance Reforms has posted a new analysis on their blog which looks at the non-discrimination provisions and how that affects insurers’ rights to use medical management. If you’re looking for resources in other languages for consumers to use when they are attempting to use their insurance, be sure to check out the Coverage to Care page from CMS and the Office of Minority Health here. We also have our own fact sheet “Tips for ACA Enrollees: From Coverage to Care – Persons with Disabilities” available here and it can also be downloaded in Spanish here.
CMS has recently updated the rules for individuals to qualify for a Special Enrollment Period when they move. To download their updated fact sheet on SEPs, click here. The fact sheet is also available on our Resources & Links page under “Enrollment Resources – Overview.”
Are you looking for local partners to help with outreach to the disability community? The NDNRC is funding eighteen Community Outreach Collaboratives (COCs) for the third year of our project. This includes the eleven that were funded last year, plus seven new locations in six new states. The COCs increase collaborations in the community, dissemination and outreach efforts and enrollment of people with disabilities in the ACA. To find a COC, click here.
