CMS Assisters Webinar to Focus on New Non-Discrimination Rules

May 24, 2016 by NDNRC

This week the CMS Assister’s webinar has been moved to Wednesday, May 25 due to the Memorial Day weekend and it will focus on the new non-discrimination rules released by HHS on May 13. Our news item on the new rules can be read here and the CMS Webinar invitation with link to register is as follows:

Marketplace Webinar Invitation – Wednesday, May 25 from 2:00 PM ET to 3:00 PM ET

Please join us for our bi-weekly assister webinar. This week we will share Marketplace updates, including an overview of the Affordable Care Act Section 1557 final rule (the nondiscrimination provisions), in collaboration with colleagues from the HHS Office for Civil Rights. Our first presentation will provide an overview of special enrollment periods (SEPs) available to consumers through the Marketplace. This presentation will describe the new streamlined categories of SEPs and the timing for when consumers who are eligible can select plans, as well as when their coverage would begin. We will also provide an overview of the health insurer premium rate review process for issuers inside and outside the Federally-facilitated Marketplace (FFM). This presentation will include a discussion of how issuers submit their premium rates for C review and how assisters can be involved in this process.

What:
1. Marketplace Updates
2. Special Enrollment Period (SEP) Overview for Assisters
3. The Issuer Rate Review Process

Who Should Attend:
Navigators, enrollment assistance personnel, and certified application counselors (CACs)
