OE7 ONE WEEK AWAY

Open Enrollment Year 7 (OE7) starts in exactly one week, and AAHD is once again joining Community Catalyst and other partners in conducting outreach for OE7. As was the case last year, this project will educate individuals about enrolling for health insurance for 2020. This week, Community Catalyst launched its Outreach Hub which includes resources to use by those who are doing open enrollment outreach. The Outreach Hub includes graphics like the one below which can be used over the following week to count down to open enrollment. To learn more about what’s included in the Outreach Hub, check out our news item. To learn more about the project we are doing with Community Catalyst, check out our news item from last month.

As you prepare for the start of open enrollment, be sure to check out the new blog post from the Georgetown University Center on Health Insurance Reforms (CHIR) entitled “What’s New for 2020 Marketplace Enrollment?”

AAHD will once again be working with the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) on a project providing technical assistance to assisters during OE7. Our work with CBPP will include a webinar as part of their “Beyond the Basics” webinar series. That webinar entitled “Best Practices When Assisting People with Disabilities Enroll in Health Coverage” will be conducted this coming Thursday, October 31 at 2:00 PM ET. You can preregister for that webinar now. If you want to learn more about the other CBPP webinars, check out our news item.

To assist you with outreach during OE7, Young Invincibles has put out an Open Enrollment Toolkit. The toolkit includes helpful messaging reminders, information on this year’s tax credits and the calendar for outreach activities that will be conducted during OE7. Of note, AAHD will be leading a Disability Week of Action on November 17-23. If you’re interested in working with us on the Disability Week of Action, please contact Karl Cooper.

Are you wondering about costs for premiums for 2020 plans? A new blog by Katie Keith on Health Affairs addresses the early data from CMS on 2020 premiums.

CMS has recently released a set of recorded webinars to help assisters get ready for open enrollment. You can access the links to the recordings and transcripts in our news item.

A new issue brief from the Kaiser Family Foundation examines Medicaid enrollment and states’ spending on the program. To learn more about what is included in the brief or for links to it, check out our news item.

Earlier this month, we announced the launch of our Health Insurance Literacy Academy (HILA) which will develop, implement, and evaluate health insurance trainings for CIL staff so that they can empower people with disabilities to make informed decisions regarding private and public health insurance coverage. To read more about the HILA, check out our blog post.

Are you looking for local partners to help with outreach to the disability community? The NDNRC has Community Outreach Collaboratives (COCs) which work to increase collaborations in the community, dissemination and outreach efforts and enrollment of people with disabilities in the ACA marketplace. You can find a COC, on the COC page of our website.

Archives of our weekly updates are available on the NDNRC website.
