As the unwinding of the Medicaid continues, many enrollees are facing disenrollment from the program. These issues have been highlighted by a Kaiser Family Foundation Survey of Health Insurance Consumers and found that most Medicaid enrollees were not aware of their states conducting disenrollment. Nearly half of these Medicaid enrollees stated that they have not been through a Medicaid renewal process before. Additionally, 1 in 3 did not provide up to date contact information to their state Medicaid agency in the last year and most current enrollees prefer to receive renewal information via email and not mailed forms. This disconnect shows the lack of communication and access between state Medicaid agencies and their enrollees. Connecting enrollees with Navigators and CILs can help them complete their renewals and retain their Medicaid coverage.
