IS OPEN ENROLLMENT REALLY OVER?

If you thought open enrollment was over – think again! Earlier this week, CMS announced that they would be providing a special enrollment period (SEP) for those who began an application prior to Sunday’s (2/15) deadline. Individuals who started their application will be permitted to complete it this week, but the deadline for this SEP is Sunday, February 22. To read our news item, click here. Of course, this only applies to the federally facilitated marketplaces. So what are the state-based marketplaces doing? Read our blog post to find out by clicking here.

With the closing of open enrollment year two, the Georgetown University Center on Health Insurance Reforms has compiled some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) which they received from navigators and assisters in open enrollment year 2. To read our news item which includes a link to download the compilation, click here. This compilation is also available on our Resources & Links page under “Enrollment Resources – Overview.”

In case you missed it, last week we announced the release of a Spanish version of the Coverage to Care Fact Sheet. Fact Sheet #16 “Tips for ACA Enrollees: From Coverage to Care – Persons with Disabilities,” is designed to be handed out directly to consumers for their use, so we decided that we should also make this fact sheet available in Spanish. Fact Sheet #16 can be found here and the Spanish version can be downloaded here. The entire list of fact sheets is also available here.

Also last week, we announced our first state specific fact sheet. Our New York COC, the Center for Independence of the Disabled, NY (CIDNY), adapted our Fact Sheet #1 on Summaries of Benefits and Coverage to be more specific to New York. This fact sheet can be accessed here. It can also be found on our New York page under “State Specific Fact Sheets” by clicking here.

Do you enjoy receiving these weekly updates but think you might have missed one? The weekly updates are now archived on the NDNRC site. All the Weekly Updates from Year 2 (or from October 3, 2014 forward) can now be accessed. The most recent ones can be found about halfway down the homepage on the right or the full list can be accessed by clicking here.

Are you looking for local partners to help with outreach to the disability community? The NDNRC has funded eleven Community Outreach Collaboratives (COCs) for the second year of enrollment. The COCs will increase collaborations in the community, dissemination and outreach efforts and enrollment of people with disabilities in the ACA. To find a COC, click here.
