The National Health Law Program (NHeLP) has published two fact sheets aimed at explaining some of the new HHS requirements for essential health benefits (EHBs). These two fact sheets focus on those new rules as they relate to prescription drugs. The first is entitled “Essential Health Benefits Prescription Drug Standard: Issue No.1 – Formulary Transparency” and addresses some of the issues that existed with formulary transparency and what the new rules are designed to do. That fact sheet can be downloaded by clicking here. The second is entitled “Essential Health Benefits Prescription Drug Standard: Issue No. 2 – Exceptions Process.” The exceptions process is the means by which a consumer can get access to drugs not on the formulary. This fact sheet can be downloaded by clicking here.
