HEALTH INSURANCE MARKETPLACE REMAINS OPEN
With the Thanksgiving holiday next week, we will not have a weekly update. The NDNRC Update will return December 2nd.
The NDNRC is continuing to monitor the effects of the election on the Affordable Care Act. As we stated last week, it is important to remember that the health insurance marketplace remains open and enrollment continues. Check out our blog post this week which highlights the important messages that need to be impressed on consumers. The blog post is available here and also has links to articles from the Georgetown Center on Health Insurance Reforms, Families USA, Health Affairs and NASHP on the aftereffects of the election.
If you’re looking for even more resources on what the election of Donald Trump means for healthcare, check out the posts from the Kaiser Family Foundation on “Where President-Elect Trump Stands on Six Healthcare Issues” and “Concerned about Losing Your Marketplace Plan? ACA Repeal May Take Awhile.”
On Monday, the NDNRC attended the White House ACA Open Enrollment Kickoff and Briefing. Speaking at the event was HHS Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell. For highlights of her speech or a link to the full speech, click here.
In another sign that the ACA Marketplace continues, CMS recently released its draft letter to the health insurance carriers about the 2018 marketplace. The letter addresses a number of areas including the calendar for setting premiums, standardized plans and network adequacy to name a few. For a comprehensive look at the 2018 issuers letter, check out the blog post from Health Affairs here.
NDNRC partner organization, NAMI (national alliance on mental illness) published a report this week examining how health plans are doing with parity for mental health treatment. To read more about the report and its findings or to download a copy, click here. The report can also be found on our Resources & Links page under “Enrollment Resources – Mental Health and Behavioral Health.”
