CAN YOU STILL ENROLL?

Even though Open Enrollment Year 9 (OE9) has ended, there could be still ways to enroll. If someone experiences a major life event, they could qualify for a SEP. To learn more about what qualifies for a SEP, check out our latest blog post.

Additionally, Medicaid enrollment is available year-round. AAHD is working with Community Catalyst to highlight opportunities for people to get access to health coverage. As part of this project, we have the resources you need to help with outreach on Medicaid enrollment and SEPs. This outreach includes graphics like the one below which highlight year-round enrollment for Medicaid. These graphics are available in the Community Catalyst Outreach Hub.

It should be noted that while January 15 was the deadline to apply in states that are on the federally facilitated marketplace (healthcare.gov), some states which operate with their own state-based marketplace (SBM) have extended deadlines due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For a complete list of which SBMs still have opportunities for enrollment, check out our news item which we update as things change.

If you missed it last week, CMS released its final numbers for OE9 which ended on January 15 for most states. If you want to read more about the final enrollment snapshot, check out our news item which includes links to both the CMS press release and fact sheet.

Now that OE9 has ended, CMS is highlighting their Coverage to Care resources which help consumers get the most out of their insurance. To assist in this, CMS has released a Coverage to Care resource entitled “Roadmap to Better Care and a Healthier You.” If you want more resources from CMS on their Coverage to Care initiative, check out their Coverage to Care webpage.

Previously, as part of our NDNRC project, AAHD released a fact sheet entitled “Tips for ACA Enrollees: From Coverage to Care – Persons with Disabilities.” This fact sheet is also available in PDF form in both English and Spanish.

Previously, we reported that CMS had issued its proposed Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameters (NBPP) for the 2023 plan year. The NBPP is the regulatory framework which CMS uses to operate the federally facilitated marketplace (healthcare.gov). Comments to this proposed rule were due last week and AAHD joined comment letters or is a member organization of several coalitions on these proposed rules. Links for these letters are as follows:

  • CCD Task Force on Health
  • Coalition To Preserve Rehabilitation and the Habilitation Benefits Coalition
  • National Health Council

Archives of our weekly updates are available on the NDNRC website.
