OPEN ENROLLMENT IS OVER – NOW WHAT?

Now that open enrollment has concluded, many consumers may come to you with questions on how to utilize their coverage. This week CMS hosted a webinar on the Coverage to Care initiative and that webinar has been archived. To watch the archived webinar, click here and register.

If you’re looking for more resources on helping consumers move from Coverage to Care, be sure to check out our fact sheet “Tips for ACA Enrollees: From Coverage to Care – Persons with Disabilities.” This fact sheet is intended for navigators to provide to people with disabilities in order to assist them in using their new insurance coverage. That fact sheet can be found here and since it is intended to be used by consumers, it is also available in a Spanish downloadable version.

The last two weeks we reported on the National Council on Disability (NCD) release of the first two of three reports on the ACA and disability. The third report entitled “Monitoring and Enforcing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for People with Disabilities” was released this week. To read more about this report and to download a copy of the report, read our news item by clicking here. You can read about the first report in the series by clicking here and the second report by clicking here. All three reports are also available on our Resources & Links page under “Enrollment Resources – Disability Specific.”

Yesterday, Health Affairs published a new issue brief on high deductible plans. To read our news item and to download a copy of the brief, click here.

Two weeks ago, we reported on a Kaiser survey that was released on Medicaid eligibility policies. Kaiser has now archived the briefing that they conducted reviewing the findings of this survey. To watch this briefing or access the transcript click here. Our original news item on the survey which includes a link to download a copy of the survey is here.

In case you missed it last week, we published a revised Fact Sheet on Medicaid Buy-In that is specific for New York state. All state specific fact sheets adapted for New York can be accessed on the New York state page under “State Specific Fact Sheets” here. The revised fact sheet, “Medicaid Buy-In for Working People with Disabilities (NY)”, can be found by clicking here. Special thanks in preparing the revised fact sheet to our NY COC, the Center for Independence of the Disabled, NY (CIDNY) and the New York state exchange, NY State of Health.

Are you looking for local partners to help with outreach to the disability community? The NDNRC is funding eighteen Community Outreach Collaboratives (COCs) for the third year of enrollment. This includes the eleven that were funded last year, plus seven new locations in six new states. The COCs will increase collaborations in the community, dissemination and outreach efforts and enrollment of people with disabilities in the ACA. To find a COC, click here.
