New Article on High-Risk Pools

June 5, 2017 by NDNRC

Previously, we have highlighted the work on high-risk pools of Jean Hall from the University of Kansas and our colleague on the Collaborative on Health Reform and Independent Living (CHRIL). Recently, she published a new article on high-risk pools for the Annals of Internal Medicine. Her new article “High-Risk Pools: An Illusion of Coverage That May Increase Costs for All in the Long Term” is available here. Some of her prior work on high-risk pools which we have highlighted previously are as follows:

  • Why High-Risk Pools (Still) Won’t Work (2/2015)
  • Why a National High-Risk Insurance Pool Is Not a Workable Alternative to the Marketplace (12/2014)
  • Early Implementation of the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plans: Providing an Interim Safety Net for the Uninsurable (6/2011)
